The Private Eye and seeing at night

There are many tools available for the private investigator, or anyone to see at night. There are night vision equipment like scopes and binoculars available in different quality usually stated as "generation" or "gen". A generation or gen 1 is considered to be the least expensive and of course, the least helpful in low or no light situations. The gen 2's are a bit better, then three and four which is considered the best at this time. These can have cameras mounted on them to record at night. What is seen is not in full color but in a greenish color as seen on numerous websites where the equipment is sold. You can still see a lot of the details that are needed and of course the latest technology will have the greatest detail. Some of these units use high range infrared that is unseen to the naked eye. This aids the unit since it is like a flashlight to the night vision equipment. Then there are infrared flashlights that work well with camcorders that have night shot capabilities. The flashlights are expensive and the range is lessened as the infrared range goes higher. If one is used that is not seen by the naked eye the range drops substantially over one that emits a visible red glow. We use this type of equipment on a lot of our surveillance cases at night. Even though it has greatly increased our chance of a successful conclusion, the costs are staggering. You can easily spend thousands on this type of equipment.
